Australia will be hearing first hand about The World’s Original Marmalade Festival   when Jane Hasell McCosh and her daughter Hermione travel to the southern hemisphere to talk about marmalade.   A Marmalade lecture tour – how the competition started and how it is linked to Palliative care.  The Aussies are no strangers to making the preserve having initiated a competition called the ‘Marmalashes’.  11 good pots and true are sent to take on the Brits who after 4 years finally brought home the first victory for GB in 2014 after abysmal defeat in previous years.

Dalemain Marmalade Awards

From 50 jars in 2005, the Awards have grown each year and in 2014, nearly 2,400 jars of marmalade were entered and judged from all around the World.

The awards set a standard which is recognised Internationally.  Feedback on your marmalade, with every jar entered receiving a judges tasting card with comments and a certificate.

Double Gold, Gold, Silver & Bronze Award Winners will be advertised on the website and marmalade awarded a Double Gold will be offered the opportunity of being on sale at Fortnum & Mason.

Renaissance:  The Awards is "THE" Awards for marmalade worldwide and has been attributed with the renaissance in marmalade manufacturing.

We look forward to receiving your wonderful marmalade in February!  The closing date is 14th February 2015!

Artisan Awards

The Artisans’ Category is for commercial marmalade makers who use the traditional open-pan method. The numbers increase every year, and makers from all parts of the U.K. and Europe enter the competition. Like the Amateurs they too are awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze, as well as a Double Gold.  Read more...

The Hotel and B&B Category is for establishments who make their marmalades in their kitchens, and continues to raise standards of marmalades served to guests not only in this country but from abroad. Read more...

Marmalashes

2011 saw the first innings of the ‘Marmalashes’, a closely fought marmalade contest held between Great Britain and Australia. Even with the helpful judging from our local MP, Rory Stewart, Australia won. Again, in 2012, Australia won inspite of being captained by Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall and again in 2013, so the British team is really going to have to step up to the mark in 2014. Read more...

2014 Award Winners

Our volunteers are very busy posting out mark cards for every entry received and certificates for all the winners in the home-made, Artisan and B&B and Hotel competitions, as well as our other contests including the Literary Competition, Label Competition, Marmalade Cat of the Year and Marmalashes. Everyone who entered will receive their scores etc soon. Because we received over 1700 home-made entries, we are only able to provide the Category Winners on the website, however you will each receive a mark card and if you won a Silver, Bronze or Commended you will also receive your certificate. Read more...
